Google has replaced Google Analytics (GA) with Google Analytics 4 (GA4) (Learn More) and starting July 1, 2023, the GA properties will stop processing new data. The following is the impact on Integration Adapters and metrics related to GA, GA4 and calculated metrics.

For Existing Blue Corona Clients

If GA was setup and processing data before the transition by Blue Corona as of June 30th, 2023.

  1. The GA adapter contains historic data from GA up to the cut-over date. All metrics that are associated to the GA adapter will display metric values for June 2023, and prior periods up to the Blue Corona retention period and history. This date will depend upon the client, their tenure with Blue Corona, and established retention policies. If you choose a date in the global filter that is later than June 30th, the GA metrics will display a “No Data” information message.
  2. The GA4 adapter started to ingest data from July 1, 2023, and will continue to ingest data into the future as long as the client has an active Blue Corona service that uses GA4 metrics. If you choose a date in the global filter that is prior to July 1, 2023, the GA4 adapter will display a “No Data” information message.
  3. The Calculated Metrics:: Google Analytics adapter has computed metrics to make it easy for our clients to see data in the system that is from GA up to June 30, 2023, and from GA4 starting July 1, 2023. These computed metrics should be used during the transition period to see the value of the corresponding metric across the transitional time-period.
  4. Caveats: Not all metrics in GA are available in GA4. Therefor the calculated metrics are not a union of all metrics between GA and GA4 but a representation of ones where clients will want to see transitional history. Examples include the Sessions metric.

For New Blue Corona Clients

If clients had tracking set up after GA was deprecated (June 30, 2023).

  1. The GA adapter will display no data for any time period selected in the global filter.
  2. The GA4 adapter will display information for any time period selected on or after July 1, 2023, or the date GA4 was configured to process data by the Client. To ingest historic data, the Client can provide Blue Corona the date they cut over to GA4 or by default, Blue Corona will begin ingestion from July 1, 2023. Prior periods will display the “No Data” information message.
  3. The Calculated Metrics:: Google Analytics adapter will display data from GA4 only as configured in 2. Above. Prior periods will return a “No Data” information message.

Combined Metrics to Bridge the Gap for Existing Clients

To Provide existing clients with historic visibility during the transition period, Blue Corona has created the following metrics grouped under the Calculated Metrics :: Google Analytics adapter. These metrics will display the appropriate Analytics data by bridging values from GA and GA4 during the transition time-period.

  • Sessions - Final
  • Local Traffic - Final
  • New Users - Final
  • Leads - Untaggable - Final
